Bell & Ross is characterised by a distinctly masculine aesthetic. Just over two decades old, the watch brand is popular amongst extreme sports enthusiasts and adventurous professionals such as air force pilots, astronauts and even bomb disposal experts – the French security service’s unit ordered a specialist Bell & Ross watch in 1996 – as well as collectors and enthusiasts.
Founded by the French/Swiss designer Bruno Belamich and businessman Carlos A Rosillo (their Anglicised surnames make up the brand’s title), Bell & Ross’s initial focus was on creating diving watches and mechanical chronographs, attracting a daring male audience.
The BR01 is the brand’s most iconic watch – inspired by aviation and designed to replicate cockpit instrumentation – and this was followed by diving and vintage-inspired lines.
