The design is sleek, and there is something beautiful about a watch that has a dial the same colour as its case and bracelet, I couldn’t stop admiring it

Although Bulova has been around since 1875, don’t worry if the name isn’t ringing bells. It only became available in the UK in 2010. Bulova was at its most innovative in the swinging 60s when it produced the first electronic watch, the Accutron. It was also the first brand to advertise on the radio and TV. Fifty years on and the revolutionary streak is still intact. In 2010 it launched the Precisionist, the most accurate watch in the world. These watches are not just for watch buffs though, its mainline collection is accessible and features some good designs for women that balance style with function.

At first glance

Vintage is a word that I am sick of hearing, but I’m using it to describe what this watch is not. Rose gold normally evokes that feeling of a bygone era, something you would find in your grandma’s dusty jewellery box, but this watch doesn’t look in the slightest bit vintage. I think it’s down to the brazen amount of bling on the bezel and the substantial size of the case. This is not a dainty watch – this is for a woman who likes her watches big, bold and flashy and who has an equal measure of confidence to carry it off.

I love this watch, but a bit like vertiginous six-inch heels, they look good on other people, not me. However, this is an ideal buy if you are looking for an affordable statement watch. There is no doubt it will be noticed and admired from afar.

Up close and personal

The design is sleek, and there is something beautiful about a watch that has a dial the same colour as its case and bracelet, I couldn’t stop admiring it. The 120 Swarovski element crystals that dance around the dial are dazzling, and although the dial features 24hr, calendar and date functions, it doesn’t seem in the slightest bit busy. The textured dial is a nice touch too.

On the wrist

This watch is begging to be seen and deserves to be on the arm of a woman with a Bellini in her perfectly manicured hand. Sadly, I only managed to take it to Tesco and Baby Boogie (I am sorry Crystal, I let you down). In the right hands this watch will party until dawn, but in mine it will sit in a box gathering dust until it ends up authentically vintage, and you know how much I hate that word.
