|Famous for||Last year Festina celebrated 21 years as the official timekeeper of the world’s most famous bike race, The Tour de France|
Originally founded in 1902, the company quickly established itself as a manufacturer of accurate mechanical watches selling at affordable prices. But a crisis of self-winding timepieces forced Festina to change strategy, and when Spanish watchmaker Miguel Rodriguez took over in 1989, he found a new heart for the group’s timepieces – the most accurate Japanese quartz mechanisms.
Since fusing Japanese innovation with the heart and soul of the traditional Swiss watchmaker, the company hasn’t looked back. Today its famous sports chronographs such as the “Chrono Bike”, plus its distinctive range of ladies ceramic watches, are recogniseable all over the world. The Black Limited Edition featured has a 44.50 mm diameter round stainless steel case with sapphire glass with 3 anti-reflective layers, derived from an original design inspired by the details of a racing bike.
Did You Know? The manufacturer’s motto is Festina Lente (Latin for ‘Hasten slowly’).
Brand Friends: Cycling veteran Richard Verenique has collaborated with Festina on the brand’s latest collection of chronographs, dedicated to their mutual love of cycling and “emotion on wheels”.
