Gail Porter – part girl next door, part TV presenter, part lads mag favourite and alopecia sufferer, she may be most infamously remembered for that FHM stunt where she was projected onto the Houses of Parliament (incidentally they never asked her permission) but she is so much more than that.

Now a full time mother to daughter Honey, Gail has suffered some well publicised tumultuous times but never one to complain, she is now discovering that writing is cathartic and laughter really is the best medicine with her latest bid to become a stand-up comedienne.

Tell us what you’ve been working on recently?

This year I have been writing two books. A novel and a children’s book, as well as doing voice overs for adverts and the Discovery Channel. I’m also trying my hand at stand up!

Can you tell us more about the premise of your two books?

My books are still work in progress so I can’t say too much except…watch this space!

How would you describe your style?

I don’t really think I have a particular style. Scruffy is probably the best word to describe me!

What does the rest of 2013 have in store for you?

I have no idea what this year has in store for me….hopefully something nice!

What’s on your wrist right now?

Right now I’m wearing a Luminox Navy Seal Colormark Black Out.

How has having alopecia affected your style?

Alopecia has made me rather self-conscious so I tend to dress down and wear dark colours to avoid standing out from the crowd.

What advice would you give to other women suffering with alopecia?

For other women suffering with alopecia, I would say, stay positive and think of hair as a luxury! It’s what’s inside that matters.

What or who inspires you?

My daughter Honey inspires me every day.

Which watch / fashion brands do you lust after?

Being a mum, I tend to wear comfy clothes but I always love Miu Miu and you can’t go wrong with American Apparel.

What can’t you leave the house without?

I can’t leave the house without my iPad.
