On first glance, it’s the watch your dad would wear under his knitted cardigan, but on closer inspection it’s brimming with little details that completely transform its old-school aesthetic. Add some nautical stripes and a splash of colour and the Henry London Edgware is well on the way to becoming a watch-wardrobe staple
Henry London’s Edgware HL41-JS-0021 Watch
Yellow- and rose-gold tones may be the colours du jour, but don’t ignore those silver-toned beauties at the very back of the case. Of course, you’ll have to wade through all the crystallised, sparkling watches to find something as subtly sleek as the Henry London Edgware, which has turned away from the faux-diamond bezel look in favour of unisex styling.
The Henry London Edgware isn’t technically a man’s watch, but its 41mm case size is guaranteed to make those with slender wrists raise an eyebrow. It’s not a particularly slim watch either due to its high double dome lens and curved dial, which takes your imagination instantly to the brand’s 1960s inspiration.
Fancy something cool with an old-fashioned twist?
Despite this, there’s more to the Henry London Edgware than its ‘old-fashioned’ twist. The curved opalescent dial with a guilloche-inspired texture provides a finish that looks far more expensive than its £110 price tag. There’s also the curved-tipped hands and double-date window at the 6 o’clock, which add to the polish of the overall watch.
On the wrist the supple black leather strap is comfortable, making this a great everyday staple that’s easy to throw on and rush out the door. Equally, if you’re jumping from meeting to meeting, this watch isn’t the shy and retiring type; it’s loud on the wrist. It makes a statement, but it’s not flashy, just assertive. It’s bold, clear and unlikely to slip unassumingly under a shirt cuff, like your average watch designed with the fairer sex in mind.
But styling the Henry London Edgware doesn’t need to be business as usual. For the weekend we’ve paired ours with a nautical-inspired striped Oasis t-shirt, a colour pop jacket from Forever 21 and a slimline Sif Jakobs bangle with the same monochrome sensibilities. This may not be the watch with the most bling factor, but will you wear it week-in week-out? Well, that we can absolutely guarantee.
