Finally something the Monegasques can be proud to put their name to. No not the utter turkey and Nicole Kidman vehicle Grace of Monaco but these rather stylish launches from Roger Dubuis – two new editions to its Monegasque collection.
This collection first launched in 2011 and, as the name suggests, it was a tribute to the glamour and gambling that lies at the heart of Monaco’s culture.
This year, it has added to the line with the Big Number and Club limited editions.
These two really wear their gambling influences on their wrists, so to speak. The centre of the Club dial is made from petrified wood, resembling the satin sheen of the tables themselves, while there is no getting away from what inspired the Big Number’s dial.
Both are also Poincon de Geneve certified. This certification is reserved for movements made in the City or Canton of Geneva. It is concerned mainly with decoration and finishing and is only awarded to seriously beautiful movements. Ones so breathtaking, you almost wish you could see them dial-side.
Big number, RRP £23,800 Club, RRP £36,100
Roger Dubuis is sold at the Watch Gallery in Selfridges, Harrods and at Arije on Sloane Street
