Designed to offer a lot more than just time, Casio guarantees a whole lot of functional stuff for your wrist

Forever popular, Casio watches continue to lead the digital watch revolution. Designed to offer a lot more than just time, Casio guarantees a whole lot of functional stuff for your wrist. From fashion to fitness, it has a bounty of styles and designs that will leave you drooling. As I am going through my fitness (not fanatic) moment I reached to test one of its sporty numbers – not its infamous Baby G or G Shock, but the catchy-named, Casio STR-300C-1VER model!

At first glance

As an amateur cyclist (bring on that 100k!) it is pretty important for me to have a watch that is roadworthy and clocks the miles effectively – a bit like that Mini Cooper S Type I am lusting after. So how does the Casio Multifunction Watch size up for the gym goer like me?

The packaging is pretty standard – but for a watch that does all its talking inside this doesn’t bother me. On first glance, the watch looks quite bulky but the large display makes me hopeful – perfect for watching those seconds tick down. However, the strap looks a bit thin and makes me question just how long this wristwatch will last!

Up close and personal

The case is lightweight which I didn’t expect, a brilliant start. The battery life alone on this model is astounding, lasting approximately 10 years! On closer inspection of the dial I can see a whole host of options at my fingertips. An auto LED display, dual time, stopwatch, countdown timer and an individually adjustable progression of signals via a Pacemaker to help set a running or cycling rhythm. This is particularly useful whilst in training – it’s like a personal trainer on your wrist!

One of the best features on the watch considering its price is the 60 Lap Memory Timer. A Lap Memory feature that lets you store up to 60 records in memory, each record includes the date, lap time, split time and distance covered. Perfect for capturing that one minute mile.

On the wrist

A super comfortable resin strap and traditional buckle make this a no-nonsense, ‘does what it says on the tin’ kind of watch! I’m just a little disappointed that the watch wasn’t made for deeper water, with a resistance of only 50 metres, even my fashion focused Michael Kors beats that so no scuba diving with this baby!

  • Technical capabilities
  • Battery life
  • Lightweight
  • Super thin strap
  • I’d love a pink version to match my training kit
