A former private PA to high net worth individuals and VIPs and with 15 years experience in the London market, her black book of contacts is endless. Having arranged parties, dinners, charity events, yachts, private jets and much much more, Celeste began assisting some of her contacts with their upcoming wedding plans and the rest as they say, is history.
Having always loved floristry, the art of cake making, dressing a venue, arranging exquisite catering and having a penchant for fashion – luxury wedding planning was a natural choice. Celeste recently gave us an insight into the fairytale world of weddings…
As a wedding planner what is your top tip for any bride-to-be?
I have a couple – first of all, try on as many dresses as possible – you will never get the chance again, so milk it and make it fun! Take your best friends / bridesmaids / mothers with you and drink all the Champagne and try on all the dresses! It is also then very likely you will end up with something you may not have envisaged but that will be perfect for you. Too many brides think a certain style suits them but when they try on, they end up going for the opposite! ALSO, enjoy every minute of the planning stage. The day comes round very quickly and flies by, so enjoy every moment along the way.
What’s the most lavish/outrageous request you have ever received from a bride?
We booked three seats on a plane just for her dress!
A watch is a popular gift choice for brides to give their groom, which watch would you recommend as a gift?
One of my brides gave her husband a vintage Patek Philippe that had been passed down from her grandfather – it was an amazing gift of a lifetime. They keep their value and are of the absolute highest quality. However, that is slightly out of budget for most, in which case I think you can never go wrong with a Breitling, they have styles to suit all tastes and are extremely well made.
How would you describe your style?
Classic elegance with a Boho twist.
What or who inspires you?
For style, it has to be Grace Kelly – she is one of the biggest bridal icons to date, a classic and timeless beauty. I also take inspiration from anyone who has taken a risk in life to chase their dreams and live life to the full.
Which luxury brands do you lust after?
Oscar De La Renta, Lanvin, Temperley London, Carolina Bucci, Balenciaga, Hermes and many more!
What is your top tip for women looking to make an investment purchase?
Always invest in jewellery; if purchased wisely, it holds value and can be worn again and again and then handed down. It is lovely to have a pair of diamond earrings, necklace or bracelet that you wore on your wedding day and can wear to future special occasions.
What’s on your wrist right now/what watch do you wish was on your wrist?
I am currently wearing a vintage Maurice Lacroix, handed down to me by my mother. My wish would be to have the vintage diamond cocktail watch I saw in one of the boutiques in Burlington Arcade, Mayfair. It matched my engagement and wedding ring perfectly and is a rarity. Not often do you see cocktail watches these days. It was decadent but simply beautiful…
What can’t you leave the house without?
Sad to say this but my iphone/ipad, I could not work or run my business without my emails and contacts at the touch of a screen!
Rocking Celeste’s Wedding World Right Now
The Dress • Couture 2012 collection by Mira Zwillinger
The Shoes • It has to be Mr Christian Louboutin, there is nothing quite like that red sole peeking out from beneath a gown. And make it a pair of Very Richie 120 Swarovski Crystal Suede Pumps!
The Cake • Classic tiers of Victoria sponge, delicately iced with filigree detail and fresh tumbling Peonies, Roses and Hydrangeas.
The Champagne • Perrier-Jouet, Belle Epoque Rose
The Venue • This is tough, there are so many fabulous places but if I could do it all again, I would have to say on a beach on the island of Mustique.
