If Cher in ‘Clueless’ can design her own wardrobe, we want to design our very own watch!
Having the ability to quickly change a strap colour to suit the latest catwalk trend is all well and good, but what about customising the dial, clasp, watch hands, case shape and bezel colour to suit your exact requirements?

This Hong Kong-based company is giving everyone the chance to own their very own custom-made watch complete with movements supplied by Citizen. Everything is under your control, including the case colour, strap colour and the dial design – with the option of a skeleton or partially visible movement window. Prices are competitive, not extortionate, and there’s even the option of personalising your timepiece with your name or nickname. Cool, right?
Shore Projects gives you the option of combining a selection of watch faces with a huge variety of straps, from water-resistant silicone to winter wool. We were lucky enough to encounter Shore Project’s customisable watch bar (pictured above) and it’s impossible not to start experimenting! We’re fans of the rose coloured Salcombe watch face paired with a sky blue fabric strap…but it’s all about discovering what’s best for you.
Now this is impressive! Just pick a collection and use Brüggler’s Watch Creator online tool to customise it completely; from the colour of the dial and sub dials, to the hour markers and even the brand’s icon. We started with a Via Condotti timepiece, but we changed the case finish, crystal bezel colour, strap material…and pretty much everything else. We got a little bit too excited!
Timex was inspired by a music turntable when it came to designing its customisable Timex Archive Mix Line collection. Imagine yourself as a DJ and spin the decks one way for watch straps and the other for watch cases until you are set on a style that is perfect for you. While you’re there, check out the wider Timex Archive brand for a splash of nostalgia.
At this year’s Baselworld, Fossil revealed that it will be introducing a customisable ‘Make It Your Own Watch Bar’ for AW16. The brand already has plenty of watch personalisation options (including engraving for special gifts), but it also offers the service for men too. We could’t resist picking some components for the chaps, including the shark printed strap pictured above.
