You may think of Fossil as just being the name behind sporty-looking watches, however, when you add Group to that name then you are in an entirely different league. Michael Kors, Burberry, Emporio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch and even Skandi success story Skagen are all names that come under that formidable umbrella.

However, it’s all very well throwing names with that kind of weight around, but how have they interpreted this season’s trends? That was the question we asked when we took three of the Fossil Group brands watches for a test drive.

The Watches

Michael Kors, Skagen and Fossil watches

These three designs are all variations on a day watch theme. With Michael Kors (left), you’ve got a more glitzy option, which could possibly work for evening drinks; the Skagen (middle) is pared-back and very Skandi, with its combination of steel bracelet and white dial and the Fossil (right) has cornered that “classic with a twist” option, featuring as it does a strap more commonly associated with men’s pilot watches, rather than dainty women’s piece.

All of them are quartz but frankly, when they look this good, no one’s going to ask about the mechanism.

Look and Feel

Despite all being day watches (just in the case of Michael Kors), each one is a very different proposition on the wrist.

The Michael Kors is a perfect example of what this brands does best – it is quite chunky and has a sport-luxe vibe thanks to the crystal-adorned bezel and tortoise-shell inlaid strap.

The Skagen couldn’t be more different – this is watch design taken to its most beautifully minimal point. There are no numerals on the dial, only two steel hands set starkly against a white background, with only the Milanese bracelet to add interest.

The Fossil is a more classic look, with its blue leather strap and gold almost stirrup-like detailing – perfect for those who can’t quite afford a certain brand with a penchant for orange.

Wear It

Michael Kors, Skagen and Fossil Watches

These three watches are all ones that stand out, so keep accessories and accompanying clothing simple. In the case of the Skagen, you’ve got a ready-made pallet with this season’s gorgeous neutrals and chunky knits, as modeled by Ms Beckham.
